ESTATE PLANNING WITH REAL ESTATE AND MINERALS

SANDY DIXON

This presentation will include a brief review of common estate planning and wealth transfer techniques, highlighting the unique income, estate, business, and fiduciary considerations affecting estates holding minerals and real property, as well as a discussion of the current state of the oil & gas and real estate industries and the resulting impact on pre and post-death planning and administration.   Sandra J. Dixon is Vice President and General Counsel of Texland Petroleum, LP, where she is responsible for all general legal matters, manages the tax and accounting departments, and works with outside counsel to provide income, tax, and fiduciary advice to the multi-generational and closely-held group of owners of Texland and its related entities.  Ms. Dixon has more than thirty years of experience in the areas of income, estate, and wealth planning as a CPA and an attorney, with a heavy concentration in the oil & gas and real estate industries.  In addition to 25 years of providing tax and legal advice at both large and boutique accounting and law firms, Ms. Dixon has worked for large and major oil and gas companies with duties ranging from accounting for revenues and expenses to executive planning and administration.
