TAX STRATEGIES FOR FAMILY AND ESTATE PLANNING

RUSS LACOCK

Sponsored by The Catholic Foundation, Security National Bank and Texas Bank & Trust

There were several changes in 2022 that impacted family and estate tax planning. The Secure 2.0 Act was signed into law December 2022 with significant changes for retirement accounts. We will discuss some of the key provisions and details. Several court cases have highlighted how important it is to get the small details correct when forming and carrying out an estate plan. When structuring entity groups for a family, don’t forget Texas Franchise Tax implications. Russ will also discuss general planning tips for the “middle-rich”, including how to get them comfortable with making gifts. Russ Lacock is a senior manager within EisnerAmper's Private Client Services group with over a decade of expertise in public accounting. With a keen focus on delivering exceptional tax services, his specialty lies in serving high net worth individuals, closely held family businesses, trusts, & estates. Russ is dedicated to consulting with clients on their tax strategies and proactively identifying planning opportunities. He has a strong passion for the EisnerAmper’s national Best Practice Group, which emphasizes employee training and engagement as well as the smooth onboarding of acquired firms. Russell led the successful integration of the recently acquired Dallas office into EisnerAmper’s global procedures. Prior to joining EisnerAmper, Russell worked as a tax manager at a boutique tax firm specialized in family businesses and high net worth clients.
