This presentation deals with heirship proceedings in Texas. Various problems and solutions to problems that are often present when attempting to determine and locate potential heirs will be discussed.The objective of this presentation is to help attendees understand heirship issues that can arise when a person dies without a will. Attendees will be made aware of certain tools and methods available to them to aid in the process of determining a person’s heirs.

For over 40 years, Nathan Griffin specialized in estate planning and probate matters, with an emphasis on estate administration, guardianships, and probate litigation. He now serves as a mediator in estate administration, guardianships, probate, and trust litigation.

A fifth generation Texan, born in west Texas and educated at Texas Tech, Kelvin Meyers has been a professional forensic genealogist since 1996. Kelvin works with attorneys, bank trust officers and mineral companies researching heirs throughout the US and the world to holdings in Texas.

Continuing education credit for attorneys, accountants and financial planners is pending for this meeting. The handout will be available on the website under the document library a few days prior to the presentation.
