ESTATE TAX RETURN PREPARATION AND PROCESSING PITFALLS
CYNTHIA CAMUEL, IRS
This session will discuss dealing with the IRS in transfer tax matters. Ways to possibly avoid potential problems and pitfalls will be reviewed. The processing of transfer tax returns from the time the return is filed until the examination is concluded will be explained. It will include a discussion of the new IRS procedures for processing and examining transfer tax returns and it will also cover an update on reorganization of the IRS estate and gift tax function. Ms. Camuel has been with the Internal Revenue Service for 39 years. During that time she has held the position of Attorney (Estate Tax) in several offices around the country. She is currently an Attorney (Estate Tax) for the North Texas Area and she served as Coordinating Attorney for many years until the position was abolished. Ms. Camuel is a member of the adjunct faculty of the SMU Law School, the adjunct faculty of the University of Texas at Arlington and the adjunct faculty of the University of Texas at Dallas, as well as the adjunct faculty of Brookhaven College and Richland College. She often teaches training programs in various areas of tax and related topics within the Internal Revenue Service. In addition, she is a frequent speaker at various legal and other professional gatherings.
