How to Structure a Retirement Portfolio for Income, Stability, and Growth in the New Normal Economy

BILL CARTER

This presentation will discuss the financial challenges facing the “baby boomer” generation in retirement. The presentation will set the stage by providing demographics and financial status of this huge group of graying America. It will discuss challenges the boomers face such as increased longevity, rising health care cost, inflation, market risk and some unknowns.   It will cover portfolio withdrawal rates that will allow boomers not to outlive their assets, stay up with inflation and how to take those distributions in the most tax efficient manner. It will also provide some suggestions on helping retirees establish a safe spending rate during retirement.  The presentation will get into the specifics of portfolio construction and how to use different products to provide income, stability and growth during this time of historic low interest rates, poor stock market returns and increased market volatility worldwide.  The presentation will discuss the changing role of today’s financial advisors from accumulation advisors to retirement advisors and the impact that will have own their practice.
